The NORTH RIM REVERIE
The Project
The NORTH RIM REVERIE, is a modern sanctuary bathed in light, where glass, wood, and stone flow effortlessly between indoors and out. Perched above Bend with distant mountain views, this home captures the quiet magic of natural materials, timeless design, and the healing rhythm of nature.

The North Rim Reverie - If a home could heal, it would be this one. Tucked within Bend’s North Rim community, The North Rim Reverie feels like a breath. Expansive yet grounding, refined yet deeply human. Designed to embrace the rhythm of light and landscape, every surface, material, and window has been placed with intention, allowing the architecture to dissolve into the natural world around it.
From sunrise spilling across the ridgeline to the hush of evening light, this home seems to move with the day. Floor-to-ceiling glass wraps the open living area, offering unbroken views of distant peaks and the town below. Inside, a wood-burning fireplace, encased in steel, fluted walnut, and soft plaster - it glows quietly, with windows on either side, pulling your gaze outward. The palette is warm and honest: dark walnut cabinetry, hand-made zellige tile, leathered natural stone, and rich wood flooring all working together in quiet harmony. Every element feels alive, raw yet refined, shaped by hand and time. It’s a home that doesn’t shout but hums; gentle, constant, restorative.
Soft plaster walls reflect the day’s changing tones, while curated lighting and wood ceilings add layers of depth. The design flows seamlessly between indoors and out: large sliding doors open to a terrace of flagstone and cedar, with raised steel garden beds and a concrete fireplace inviting slow nights under the stars. Here, the boundaries between architecture and nature disappear and every line, texture, and material blurs into the landscape.
In the primary suite, natural stone and plaster work together, warmed by a walnut vanity and one of my favorite details: a door leading to a private outdoor bathing space beneath the sky. Every element, from the 13-foot kitchen island meant for gathering to the soft sound of the fountain outside, reflects a home made not just to be lived in, but to be felt.
The North Rim is both grounding and transcendent, an exploration of how architecture can soothe the senses and reconnect us with what’s elemental. It is a space that celebrates light, craft, and nature’s artistry - a home where every moment, every detail, seems to breathe.
