Julanda Shannon Design is a full-service interior design studio based in Bend, Oregon, serving custom residential projects throughout Central Oregon and beyond. Custom Home Design

Created for new homes and substantial remodels, this service carries the interior from early architectural review through construction. I shape the space planning, cabinetry, millwork, lighting, plumbing, materials, and finishes as one complete design, supported by detailed specifications, construction and homeowner binders, and 3D renderings. Close collaboration with your builder helps each decision move from concept to completion with clarity.

Full Home Furnishings

Available as an extension of Custom Home Design, this service brings the finished interior into focus. Furniture, decorative lighting, rugs, textiles, artwork, and accessories are selected to complement the architecture and the way you live. I manage procurement, ordering, receiving, and white-glove installation so the home is completed with the same care that shaped its design.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Throughout the design process, I keep communication open and invite your input at every meaningful step. Your feedback helps shape a home that feels personal and deeply considered. During construction, I stay closely involved and make time-sensitive decisions within the approved design direction to keep the project moving.

  • Our process begins with a 1 hour meeting in person for our local clients, or via video for those at a distance where we’ll have the opportunity to get to know each other and explore the full scope of your project, including budget and timelines. With a clear understanding of your design vision, we’ll develop a detailed proposal outlining our approach and an estimated project cost, bringing your design aspirations one step closer to reality.

  • We will send you our design questionnaire for an opportunity to share inspirations, ideas, and any existing elements you wish to incorporate into the design. We’ll then schedule a meeting to review your responses, and outline all further steps, ensuring you have a clear view of each design phase ahead. Based on your questionnaire, I’ll create a tailored design concept that captures your unique style, including color palettes, materials, and layouts. You’ll receive a comprehensive presentation with detailed floor plans, renderings, and material samples to help you envision the final result. Alongside the presentation, a Feedback Sheet allows you to request any adjustments or explore specific elements further. After incorporating your feedback, I’ll provide your final, custom design package.

  • Once you approve the design, I will prepare a comprehensive material sheet, construction documents, additional layout drawings, and a specification book that outlines every interior and exterior material and item. Two binders - one for the builder’s team on-site and one for you, the homeowner - will be provided to ensure everyone has clear, organized access to the design details.

  • Now that we have the green light, we move into the exciting phase of ordering and tracking all items and materials. To ensure seamless delivery, we use a dedicated receiving warehouse so that all items arrive together, ready for installation. We will oversee every detail, keeping you fully informed with updates on the status of each piece throughout the process.

  • I will closely manage the project to ensure that the design is executed to the highest standards. As we near project completion, I will conduct a thorough inspection of the space to ensure that every aspect of the design has been executed according to plan. I will address any final touches, conduct quality checks, and make sure you are completely satisfied with the results.
